Feb, 24, 2005 – 26-year-old Australian Adam Groom was named the 2004 Rookie of the Year at the Asian Golf Tour Awards night after finishing 15th on the Order of Merit last season with winnings of US$117,728 from 13 tournaments.
Groom, from Narrabeen on Sydney's Northern Beaches, had three top-10 finishes on the Asian Tour in 2004, including tied third place finishes at the DHL Philippine Open and Volkswagen Masters - China. He also finished T5th at the 2005 BMW Asian Open.
Previous to the victory Groom has played in the Eisenhower Trophy, was a member of Australia's winning Southern Cross Cup Team (the only player to win all six matches) and in 2002 he tied for 5th at the NZ Open, finishing ahead of 6th place getter Tiger Woods.
The Asian Tour is fast becoming a happy breeding ground for the Australasian players with 33 Australasian's gaining their cards for 2005.
