Myrtlewood Golf Club named local’s favorite

MYRTLE BEACH, SC. – Feb. 21, 2005 – Myrtlewood Golf Club, home to PineHills Golf Course and The Palmetto Course, has been named “Local’s Favorite Course” in Myrtle Beach Golf Magazine’s annual “Best In Golf” contest.

“We are very excited that our local golfers have selected Myrtlewood Golf Club as their locals’ favorite,” said Archie Lemon, director of golf for Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management. “Our courses offer two very different tests of golf. The Palmetto has wide fairways and wonderful views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The PineHills is the Grand Strand’s only Arthur Hills design and it demands precision shotmaking. We’re thrilled that locals have voted us Best in Golf. They chose us from more than 110 courses and that’s quite a compliment.”

Myrtlewood Golf Cub is one of the Myrtle Beach area’s pioneering golf venues. The fourth golf complex to be built along the Strand, it opened two courses, The Palmetto and The Pines in 1966. The Pines was later redesigned by noted architect Arthur Hills who created a picturesque layout known for its undulating and demanding greens.

The “Best In Golf” readers poll was conducted by Myrtle Beach Golf Magazine.” Readers were asked to complete ballots, which were provided in the August and September, 2004 issues of the publication. Over 3,000 votes were cast for the best golf-related businesses in the Myrtle Beach area.

Set along the Intracoastal Waterway in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Myrtlewood Golf Club is home to two championship golf courses, PineHills and The Palmetto. Conveniently located at 48th Ave. N. Bypass in the heart of Myrtle Beach, Myrtlewood Golf Club features a full-service clubhouse, an extensive practice facility, a snack bar and grill, PGA professionals on staff, and men’s and women’s locker rooms. On-site golf villas and golf packages are also available. More information is available at www.MyrtleBeachGolfTrips.com.
