SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. – Feb. 17, 2005 – Ben Sutton Golf School, the nation's longest-running, largest golf instruction destination based just south of Tampa - has announced that Director of Instruction Dean Hedstrom has been named to GOLF Magazine's prestigious list of "Top Teachers By Region" for 2005-2006.
Hedstrom, a 14-year veteran of Ben Sutton Golf School, is making his second appearance on the list. He and other top teachers were selected by GOLF Magazine's instruction editors based upon a combination of 10 criteria: swing knowledge, communications skills, innovative teaching ideas, flexibility in teaching different types, proven success, willingness to share knowledge with peers, longevity, success with well-known golfers, number of nominations/recommendations and industry awards.
A native of Rochester, Michigan, Hedstrom has worked with a number of Florida-based PGA TOUR players, World Champion Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, the Prince of Monaco, as well as a wide array of entertainment and media personalities and community and business leaders.
An accomplished player who competed on the Florida mini tours, Hedstrom was the winner of the PGA's West Central Florida Chapter and North Florida Section Teacher of the Year awards in 2002. He is now among an elite group chosen from among the country's 25,000 golf professionals. Teachers represented on the list hail from 28 states and Canada.
