Golf Pac sued in Federal Court for Bogus Site

(Feb. 14, 2005) - Golf Industry Blog has learned that a temporary restraining order is being sought in Arizona Federal Court against Florida golf packager Golf Pac Inc.
for running an unauthorized and duplicate site of an ex-client and golf
packager, TravelGolf West.

TravelGolf West is currently a private label packaging firm operated by Las
Vegas Golf Adventures in conjunction with TravelGolf Media Inc.

TravelGolf Media is charging that Golf Pac Inc. has been running and
operating a duplicate web site of TravelGolf West for over a year after TGM
stopped having Golf Pac operate as its call center and fulfillment center.
The suit, as obtained by The Golf Industry Blog, alleges that, after being
ordered to discontinue fulfillment and call center support, Golf Pac copied
and altered the web site of travlegolfwest.com while answering phone and
emails under the name of TravelGolf West.

Golf Pac offers its call center and fulfillment center services to various
packagers and city entities. Golf Pac and TravelGolf Media entered into
fulfillment center agreement in 2002. The complaint states that TGM
terminated the relationship in September 2003.

The suit further alleges that Golf Pac operated the duplicate site and
search engine ranked it under Google in an a blatant attempt to confuse the
search engine and the public.

According to the complaint, "Defendant has utilized a "ghost" technique
whereby they post the Web Site, get its search engine ranked and then take
it down, indicating their intent to confuse, deceive, or misdirect
consumers while utilizing the Travel Golf trade name."

The Blog has obtained a copy of the duplicate TravelGolf West suit as filed
in court.

The suit also alleges Golf Pac refused to turn over its proprietary
information including its customer database and phone records.

Officials at Golf Pac did not return emails or phone calls for this story.
