DELAND, Fla. -- Victoria Hills Golf Club – the award-winning Ron Garl design managed by Billy Casper Golf and located in Victoria Park, a St. Joe community – will participate in the second annual "Patriot Golf Day" on Labor Day weekend.
From Saturday, August 30 through Monday, September 1, Victoria Hills will invite golfers to donate $1 in recognition of Patriot Golf Day. For a $5 donation, golfers may enter a closest-to-the-pin competition, with winners receiving two complimentary greens fees (cart not included) and a voucher for $5 off any pro shop purchase of $10 or more. In addition, a silent auction will be held for a limited edition TaylorMade driver with an F-16 fighter engraved on the sole.
Last year, Victoria Hills raised more than $1,000 from its Patriot Golf Day activities.
Supported by both the PGA of America and the United States Golf Association (USGA), Patriot Golf Day gives golfers across the country the unique opportunity to donate $1 to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation to provide educational scholarships to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty. In 2007, some 3,200 golf facilities nationwide participated in Patriot Golf Day, raising more than $1 million.
"We're proud to once again participate in Patriot Golf Day and look forward to great response from our golfers," says Matt Payne, Victoria Hills Head Professional. "Military members playing on those days will also receive a 20-percent discount in honor of their service."

Patriot Golf Day was created by Dan Rooney, a member of the Oklahoma Air National Guard, PGA of America (professional) and a USGA. Rooney has served two tours flying F-16s over Iraq and being familiar with the devastating losses some families have suffered due to their loved ones' service to their country, he was determined to find a way to help them through the power of golf. Rooney's idea for giving back to these families is Patriot Golf Day.
