LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Feb. 10, 2005 – The Professional Clubmakers' Society (PCS) will conduct seven training schools in 2005 at the PCS Headquarters, the Elmore Just Clubmakers Cottage, located adjacent to the Persimmon Ridge Golf Course and Academy, Louisville, Ky. The first level of the new building is devoted to golf clubmaking, club repair and fitting. It includes a state-of-the-art fitting studio with swing analyzers and launch monitors, a classroom, and a fully equipped workshop housing 12 individual bench areas.
All PCS schools will be led by PCS Advanced Professional "Class A" Clubmaker Bob Dodds, PCS Technical Director and Acting Executive Director. Additional PCS Certified, Professional and Advanced Professional "Class A" Clubmakers will assist. PCS certifications provide the most comprehensive test of club fitting, club repair and clubmaking skills in the golf industry. "Individuals who want to be a clubmaker can learn from the best at these schools," Dodds said.
The Advanced Fitting School is a three-day program that includes discussions on equipment specifications and comparisons of equipment used in fitting. Attendees will learn how to apply data obtained from a golfer's swing with various equipment to properly fit the golfer with clubs. Attendees will receive a DVD of example fittings by experienced PCS members. Included will be specific fittings of drivers, wedges and putters. The schedule is:
• School 1 - February 28-March 2
• School 2 - April 4-6
• School 3 - October 3-5
• School 4 - December 7-9
The Clubmaking and Repair Skills Training School is a one-day program to familiarize attendees with state-of-the-art clubmaking and repair skills techniques. The school will help attendees understand how to apply selected golf club specifications to complement various swing characteristics. The school was designed to provide a PGA Apprentice with the skills and knowledge to pass the PGA Level One hands-on test. The schedule is:
• School 2 - February 14
• School 3 - October 17
• School 4 - December 5
"It's a simple formula - to be the best, learn from the best," Dodds said. "With the opening of the new PCS Headquarters in 2004 with its state-of-the-art fitting studio and bench-skills workshop area, the PCS now can merge its facility with the expertise of its most experienced, certified clubmakers to conduct quality training programs. Louisville's central location, low expenses, and the availability of the second-rated golf course in Kentucky (Persimmon Ridge), make this a great site to learn clubmaking and fitting skills. There is added value in every aspect of these schools."
