TGAA congratulates winners of its three multi-day "major" events

WASHINGTON D.C. -- Building on its success as the premier Pro-Net Tour in the Mid-Atlantic, the Tournament Golf Association of America (TGAA) is proud to congratulate the winners of its three multi-day “major” winners.

Congratulations to Roy Patterson, Jr., Dennis M. Baca and Stephan Slaughter for their fine play in winning the TGAA Tour’s Old Dominion Invitational, TGAA Players Championship and the TGAA Summer Classic.

Roy Patterson, Jr., a first year player of the TGAA Tour and a single digit handicap player, captured the season’s first major and the oldest major on the Mid-Atlantic schedule – the Old Dominion Invitational. The two-day, thirty-six hole event was played at the Ford’s Colony Resort & Country Club in Williamsburg, VA. Playing on the Black Heath and Marsh Hawk courses, Roy posted a winning score of net one under par and won $2,000 for his victory.

Dennis M. Baca, the tour’s CEO and a low double digit handicap player, captured the season’s second major, the inaugural TGAA Players Championship. After a three month medical absence from the tour, Dennis posted a winning score of net five under par at the two-day, thirty-six hole event, to claim the title at the Compass Pointe GC in Pasadena, MD. A member since 1995 and prior to bringing the tour to the Mid-Atlantic in 1996, Dennis won the first major of his career having played in all but one multi-day event and pocketed $2,500 for his victory.

Stephan Slaughter, a four year member of the TGAA Tour and a low-teens handicap player, captured the Tour’s most recent major, the TGAA Summer Classic.
Stephan claimed the season’s third major with a winning score of net one under par at the two-day, thirty-six hole event at Blue Ridge Shadows GC in Front Royal, VA. Becoming a recent father to twin boys, Stephan rode this excitement to his first career TGAA major victory and the first place check of $2,500.

The TGAA Tour’s final major will be held October 10-12, 2008. Known as the “crown jewel” of the tour, the TGAA Tour Championship will be held at the P.B. Dye design Virginia Oaks GC in Gainesville, VA. As the tour’s only three day, 54 hole event, the TGAA Tour Championship brings the ’08 season to a conclusion. Not only does this event prove to have the greatest purse of the season, it also is the final event for players to earn coveted points to become the tour’s Player of the Year.
