Wayport teams with UpLink to deploy Wi-Fi for golf courses/resorts

AUSTIN, Texas – Feb. 7, 2005 – Wayport, the nation's largest provider of Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) wireless and wired high-speed Internet access at more than 6,300 hot spot locations, including more than 700 hotels, has announced that it has entered into a letter of agreement relating to a strategic relationship with UpLink Corporation, the industry leader in golf course management applications.

The two Austin, Texas-based companies plan to deliver specialized Wi-Fi services which will enhance golf course management, revenue and improve the golfer experience by providing a comprehensive solution for golf resorts that require Wi-Fi services across their entire property including the hotel, clubhouse and golf course, all in one bundled solution.

Initially, Uplink will recommend Wayport's Wi-Fi services to its existing golf courses and golf resort customers for their hotels and clubhouses and in return, Wayport will recommend Uplink's Golf Course Management System (GCMS) to its hotel customers that operate golf courses. The second phase of the relationship contemplates the joint development of a Wi-Fi infrastructure designed to support operations of the UpLink GCMS by integrating Wayport's Wi-Fi service throughout the golf course.

"The relationship with UpLink gives Wayport another strategic application and service we can offer to resort hotels and golf courses who want to offer a complete Wi-Fi service for guest access as well as to enable UpLink's industry leading golf course management system," said Dan Lowden, vice president of business development for Wayport. "And by delivering a bundled set of applications and solutions across the entire property, the golf course and golf resort can offer their guests the best possible experience."

Guests and staff will be able to connect to the Internet via their Wi-Fi enabled device throughout the golf course, clubhouse and at resorts, throughout the hotel, all on one system. UpLink will be able to take advantage of the broadband connectivity that Wayport's Wi-Fi service provides to develop new applications in the UpLink Golf Course Management System in order to continually enhance the efficiency, management and profitability of the golf course.

"By collaborating with Wayport, UpLink demonstrates its commitment to implementing the latest in technology and quality service, ensuring that golf courses we serve will increase their revenue, reduce costs and provide an enhanced customer experience," said Mac McHugh, vice president and COO of UpLink. "We look forward to offering unique, industry first opportunities for our golf course and resort customers so they can attract and retain more golfers."

About UpLink

UpLink is headquartered in Austin, Texas with regional offices throughout the U.S. UpLink's product line consists of the Advantage Golf Course Management System and ViewPoint, a sophisticated entry level GPS system.
