Feb. 7, 2005 – Jeff Jackson of Tour Golf Products, Columbus, Ohio, served as a featured speaker at the recent PGA show in Orlando, Florida.
Jackson's presentation "The Profitability of Club Repair and Custom Club Assembly" was attended by PGA professionals from all parts of the world. Tour Golf Products' Director of marketing, Jackson showed attendees how adding club repair and club assembly to their operations could substantially increase profits and could enhance the image of the PGA professional or golf store manager.
The presentation detailed different types of assembly and repair operations, including what materials are needed for each and how much time each operation is expected to require. Jackson then showed how quickly any investment in equipment was recouped. The need for proper training was stressed in the seminar as was how to market the custom club and repair aspect of the business. Jackson's PowerPoint presentation provided actual examples of profitability and was followed by a question and answer session.
Aaron Dillon, a Golf Buyer who attended the seminar, was impressed by what he learned. "As a retail store manager, I am always looking for ways to increase revenue and add profits. After listening to Jeff's seminar, I have decided to add a club repair section as well as a custom club assembly division to my new store. I never realized the potential profit margins available through club assembly and repair. Now that I can see how much money can be made by assembling my own custom clubs, I will certainly be doing a lot more component clubmaking work in the future."
