NEW BEDFORD, Massachusetts – Feb. 7, 2005 – At the 2005 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, January 27-30, Ahead, a designer and marketer of branded golf headwear and apparel, unveiled Ahead woven appliqué - an innovative ornamentation process that will be integrated into the Company's first full line of Ahead Authentics apparel; the Kate Lord Collection outerwear and headwear; and all forms of Ahead Headwear.
Through the use of an intricate weaving process, Ahead is able to precisely match each and every detail in a very small design, which would not be possible through traditional embroidery.
Graphics with fine detail and small lettering that were previously impossible to reproduce with embroidery thread, can now be easily rendered in the woven appliqués and embroidered to the Ahead Authentics and Kate Lord collection of outerwear and polo shirts, as well as all forms of Ahead headwear. The woven appliqué can be sewn onto the caps or garments as a "stand alone" graphic, or can be incorporated into a wide array of embroidered designs that Ahead created specifically for this program.
Further, Ahead will stock multiple color schemes of each label in their design library, enabling customers to have several color patterns to choose from, in matching a particular shirt design.
"Our design team has been perfecting the woven appliqué process for some time now, and I am confident that this new ornamentation process will change the industry standard for design graphics on garments," said Ken Shwartz, CEO, Ahead.
The new woven appliqué ornamentation process will be utilized on the Company's first full line of Ahead Authentics golf shirts--consisting of eight unique styles of 60 double mercerized men's shirts. Retief Goosen, Ahead's original apparel endorsee, who will play a prominent role as the Company continues to expand its apparel product offerings, will wear woven appliqué styles on the PGA Tour in 2005.
