OSWEGO, IL – Feb. 7, 2005 – SMT Golf recently announced that Nationwide and PGA Tour Professional Victor Schwamkrug, "The Longest Driver On Any PGA Tour" averaging 330.9 yards in 2004, has agreed to a one-year endorsement deal for the upcoming 2005 season. Schwamkrug has been an SMT staff player for the past two years and will again join the team at SMT this season.
Mike Tait, President of SMT Golf said, "Victor has been a great ambassador for SMT Golf over the past 2 years and we're very pleased to have him back this season. It's great to have a guy like him on our staff. He's a very talented player and has the ability to truly dominate the Tour with the distance he brings to the game. We're just going to focus on providing him with the tools he needs to achieve his goals…the rest will take care of itself."
Schwamkrug, who has the longest driving average (330.9 yards) on any PGA Tour, immediately caught the attention of the golf world when he hit a 429 yard drive at the 2004 Shell Houston Open using his SMT Spectrum driver. Victor will be carrying two Spectrum drivers (5 Degree & 10 Degree) in his bag on Tour this year and will also be putting SMT's new 303MB irons that he co-designed along with Chip Beck and Mike Tait into play. He will also be carrying the SMT Staff Bag and wearing SMT apparel during Tour events.
"I can't wait to get out there and start playing," said Schwamkrug. "I love the look and feel of the new irons SMT introduced at the PGA Show. They have a real classic look and the quality is second to none just like every other club SMT makes. I wouldn't play anything else."
"We're looking forward to another great year on the Tour," said Mike Tait. "Based on the phone calls I've taken and the number of clubs I've made for Tour players this year it's going to be pretty hard to miss us…all I can say is stay tuned."
