MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Road Trip: Myrtle Beach, the reality show that offers a backstage glimpse at why the Grand Strand area is known as the "Golf Capital of the World" returns to GOLF CHANEL starting Tuesday, July 1. The episodes will run July 1, July 22 and July 29 at 7:30 p.m. and will be rebroadcast during the week.
The show's second set of four episodes will feature the four-person cast playing golf at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club, Grande Dunes Resort Course, The Love Course at Barefoot Course and TPC of Myrtle Beach. After the golf round is completed, the cast also pays visits to popular Myrtle Beach attractions such as the newly-opened Hard Rock Park rock and roll theme park, a Myrtle Beach Pelicans' minor league baseball game, Ocean Annie's Beach Bar and Hot Fish Club Restaurant and Gazebo.
From July 1 - August 1, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday will host a contest and reward one lucky golfer with an expense-paid trip to Myrtle Beach and an appearance on one of the last four episodes that will be filmed along the Grand Strand from October 5 - 10, 2008. Interested golfers can register online at GolfHoliday.com and tell why they should be a guest star on Road Trip: Myrtle Beach or download a video on the Web site. Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday will select five finalists from the entries and post their videos on the Web site so golfers can vote on their favorite. The winner will be announced on August 15.
"We're excited to offer this unique opportunity for one golfer to visit Myrtle Beach and appear on an episode of Road Trip: Myrtle Beach to be filmed this fall," said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. "When we started Road Trip: Myrtle Beach in February, our goal was to reach out to golfers around the world and show what a golf vacation is like here by presenting the destination through the eyes of an entertaining cast in a fun and insightful way. By the comments we've received from people all over the country about how much they've enjoyed the show and learned more about what the Myrtle Beach area has to offer, we've accomplished this goal."
Road Trip: Myrtle Beach is a 12-episode series follows former PGA TOUR professional and current ESPN commentator Charlie Rymer, Hootie & the Blowfish band member Mark Bryan, musician Josh Kelley and Duramed FUTURES Tour player Perry Swenson as they enjoy an extended Myrtle Beach golf vacation. Each episode takes place at a different Grand Strand golf course and features light-hearted banter between cast members, course information and videos, game management tips and golf instruction by Rymer, the foursome's activities after golf at area restaurants and night spots and live, original music, including the show's theme song that was written and recorded by Bryan and Kelley. The show's fifth recurring member, a 1962 red convertible Cadillac, is easily recognizable as it transports the foursome along the Grand Strand.
Filmed entirely along the Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean that extends from Southport, N.C. to Georgetown, S.C., the Myrtle Beach area is the first American golf destination to play host to a non-competitive reality program. Road Trip: Myrtle Beach provides a backstage glimpse at why the Grand Strand area is known as the "Golf Capital of the World" with more "Top 100" golf courses than any other destination and three million rounds recorded on area golf courses each year.
