Vicky Hurst awarded sponsor's exemption to State Farm Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. --­ LPGA State Farm Classic Executive Director Kate Peters announced Vicky Hurst has been awarded a sponsor's exemption into the 2008 tournament after her win this weekend at the 2008 Michelob Ultra Duramed FUTURES Players Championship in Decatur, IL. The 17-year-old, Florida native was given one of two exemptions available for the Classic. Tournament officials announced in April that Michelle Wie had accepted the remaining sponsors' exemption. The 2008 State Farm Classic will be held at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, IL, July 14-20.

"Every year we see extraordinary talent come out of the FUTURES Tour and we're proud to award the winner of the Michelob Ultra Duramed FUTURES Players Championship a chance to tee it up at Panther Creek in July," Peters said. "This is a very exciting opportunity for Vicky. I want to congratulate her on her victory at Hickory Point and wish her the best at the 2008 State Farm Classic."

Hurst finished the 72-hole tournament 8 under par taking home $16,100 for her victory at Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur, IL. This was the second first-place win for Hurst this season. She also won the top spot at the 2008 Jalapeno Duramed FUTURES Gold Classic which was held April 25-27 in McAllen, TX.
