SAN DIEGO -- Eagle One, the leader in recycled plastic lumber, “Greenwood”, products in the golf course and country club industry, announced it will be hosting breakfast and dinner for U.S. Open golf course superintendents at Torrey Pines on Saturday, June 14, 2008.
Nearly 200 golf course superintendents will gather for a continental breakfast at 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning before tending to their duties on the course. They will meet again at 9:00 a.m. for a full breakfast and re-group for a dinner at 4:00 p.m. prior to going back to work until dark. The event will be held in the Maintenance Shed located beside the driving range at Torrey Pines.
“San Diego’s golf maintenance department and high level volunteer superintendents from around the world have come together to ensure that Torrey Pines' South Course is in top shape for the competition this week,” said Philip Thompson, President, Eagle One. “The players and spectators rely on the expertise and experience of these talented superintendents and greens keepers to maintain the course and we’re pleased to acknowledge their contribution to the success of this wonderful event.”
Eagle One introduced Recycled Plastic Lumber (Greenwood™) into the golf course industry in 1992 and continues to be a pioneer in this category with its diverse line of eco-friendly products. Commencing with a simple range of golf products including hazard markers, tee markers, tee signs and yardage markers, Eagle One has expanded and become known as the company with durable, almost no maintenance site products for the golf, park, construction, amusement, outdoor furniture and other industries.
Hundreds of other items were added to the line including water cooler houses, divot mix containers, starter’s podiums, benches and more. With the growth of Greenwood, demand for other associated items occurred simultaneously, requiring Eagle One to add other products such as rope, signs, chain, flags, flagsticks, cup, tools etc. Eagle One is known as a leader in flag technology, and today, the company’s pin flags can be seen at over 80 professional tournaments annually in the U.S. and it is the flag of choice on the number one golf course in the world.
Today Eagle One’s golf course segment offers over 15,000 items. The company has distribution throughout the world and is considered one of the top suppliers of golf course accessories in the world. In 2008, Eagle One is the supplier of flagsticks to all USGA events including the U.S.Open at Torrey Pines, California.
