New York Times announces new On Par print and online feature

NEW YORK -- The New York Times has announced a new weekly print and online feature called On Par by sports reporter Bill Pennington, dedicated to all things golf; its rules, its players, its etiquette and its challenges. A new On Par feature will run in the newspaper and online each Monday, and Mr. Pennington’s instructive and engaging videos will address the intricacies of the game online (http://www.nytimes.com/golf).

“Most of the time, we write about sports our readers watch,” said Tom Jolly, sports editor, The New York Times. “In this case, Bill will be writing to our readers about a game they're playing. On the Web, we'll invite them into a community of fellow golfers, where they'll be able to watch entertaining videos about the game and share experiences and advice about the game they love and agonize over.”

The On Par online section includes:
• Weekly video featuring Bill Pennington with golf pros from courses across the country
• Helpful tips on improving your game
• Questions of the week
• A reader forum, where golfers of all levels can share their scores and their stories
• Features on equipment, clothing and other golf accessories

This new feature will run through this year's golf season. The online section will be updated regularly with reader comments, questions and videos; videos will be available on both the online golf section and NYTimes.com’s Sports video channel (http://video.on.nytimes.com).

A special advertising package is available for this feature, including cross platform opportunities in print, across the site, video and E-mail. For more information on advertising opportunities, contact Mark Szollar at 212-556-3656 or szollma@nytimes.com.
