VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- HorsePower Sports Marketing (HSM) proudly announces the addition of David Ragan to the prestigious list of NASCAR personalities slated to compete in the 2008 HorsePower Tee Shot Tour (HTST). The HTST is a series of six Power Golf events featuring NASCAR personalities teaming with eight of the most prolific drivers of the golf ball in the world. The scoring format rewards both distance and accuracy.
The season opens tomorrow in Concord, North Carolina, at the beautiful Cabarrus Country Club. Ragan and seven of his NASCAR colleagues – Marcos Ambrose, Stephen Leicht, Kyle Petty, Hermie Sadler, Elliott Sadler, Brian Vickers and J.J. Yeley – will step up to the tee along with their respective Power Golf counterparts to see who can drive the ball the furthest, yet keep it in the fairway.
As soon as he turned 18, Ragan made his first foray in NASCAR, running select Craftsman Truck and Busch Series events, along with a limited ARCA schedule. After participating in Roush’s “Driver X” competition in 2005, Ragan was selected as co-driver of the No. 6 Roush Racing Ford F-150 with teammate, Mark Martin. In the 19 races Ragan started in the Craftsman Truck Series, he was able to achieve one top 5, eight top 10s and one pole. Near the end of the 2006 season, Ragan was selected by Jack Roush to be the driver of the No. 6 AAA Ford Fusion in 2007, where he finished the season as runner up for the Rookie of the Year title in the NEXTEL Cup Series and was named Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Busch Series. Ragan concluded his rookie season in the Cup Series with two top 5 finishes.
Ragan is looking forward to competing in this exciting new sports event. “I’m really excited to be participating in these events. Golfing is something I really enjoy doing and we travel so much that I really don’t get much time to practice. Hopefully getting to play some on the road will help me improve and be a lot of fun!”
