FlightScope introduces two new software capabilities

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Jan. 26, 2005 – FlightScope by EDH Sport will introduce two new groundbreaking software components at the upcoming PGA Merchandise Show Jan. 27-30 in Orlando, Fla. FlightScope, a premier ball flight monitor in use at high-profile teaching academies and venues in the U.S. and around the world, will launch its "Clubhead Speed Profile" and its "Putter Module."

These enhancements are integrated easily into the FlightScope Pro, so that it will not be necessary to purchase a new FlightScope unit. The new software capabilities also will be available in newly purchased FlightScope models.

"Our company and the people behind it have worked to develop technology to fulfill the needs of the industry as we perceive them," said Henri Johnson, Founder, Chairman and CEO of EDH Sport. "The unparalleled ability of FlightScope to capture extensive and important data will enhance ways in which instructors and club fitters improve golfers' experiences."

The FlightScope Clubhead Speed Profile is measured through impact, which includes pre- and post- strike information for the club. The rate of acceleration of the clubhead just prior to impact can been seen as a player's fingerprint. From a teaching perspective, this visual capability allows instructors to help a golfer make positional changes and swing adjustments to attain maximum clubhead speed at point of impact.

From a club fitting perspective, as the shaft is an integral and critical component of the club, FlightScope will allow fitters to see the increase of the club velocity profile just prior to impact compared to the club strike speed at impact. This ratio is extremely helpful for choosing the correct shaft due to its torque characteristics. Thus fitters will have accurate data for fitting the right shaft for the club to achieve maximum speed of the clubhead at impact. Each player then can be "fingerprinted" with his or her clubhead speed profile for future use.

The FlightScope Putter Module, when incorporated into a FlightScope Pro, is the first product of its kind, which allows the user to employ one unit to fit every club, putter through driver, as well as improve a golfer's putting stroke. Enhanced with its new technology, the FlightScope Pro can be placed behind a hole and, when a golfer putts to the hole, putter fitting and stroke information are relayed to the instructor, who then interprets the data for a player's benefit.

With the resultant selection of the right equipment for a particular player, as well as individualized swing information for that player, reduced numbers of strokes become an attainable goal.

"These two newly-developed components of FlightScope represent a major breakthrough in technology development," said Marc Solda, president of EDH Sport. "This level of data capability never has been available before in one complete package. Having the ability to see this speed profile will provide a valuable tool for coaches, fitters and trainers. With FlightScope's added capabilities clients truly will have the best technology available for their customers, which will differentiate them from their competition."

FlightScope, introduced at last year's PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla., is a portable indoor-outdoor ball flight monitor that employs a Phase Array Tracking Sensor and proprietary technology to record accurately the ball in flight and to provide actual launch data. The characteristic distinguishing FlightScope from existing launch monitor technology is that FlightScope is the only product in the world that can record the ball flight accurately in the precise environment in which the ball travels, thereby providing actual rather than implied data.

The resultant ability of golfers, instructors and club fitters to see the actual ball trajectory at various angles allows them to make precise adjustments for enhanced performance.

Awareness of the advanced technology of FlightScope by EDH Sport has increased vastly this past year. FlightScope provided its technology to Golf Digest for use during some of the magazine's equipment testing sessions for its second annual "Hot List" published in its February 2005 edition. FlightScope is in use by CMD Golf, an American-based club fitting company in Jupiter, Fla., that offers world-class equipment and club fitting services across the eastern U.S. Also, FlightScope technology was installed last year at the PGA of America Learning Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and was featured during Play Golf America Day, Dec. 8, and during the PGA Teaching & Coaching Summit, Dec. 9-12.

FlightScope's television exposure has included the Nedbank Challenge, played Dec. 2-5 in S. Africa, where FlightScope technology was installed on several tees and was visible to viewers in over 60 countries. Actual swing and ball flight data were presented to viewers showing how the world's leading Tour players perform. FlightScope also was in prominent use at the "Battle at the Bridges," a charity exhibition match televised live in the U.S. by ESPN and ABC Aug. 2 from the Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., featuring Tiger Woods and Hank Kuehne in match play against John Daly and Phil Mickelson.

EDH, founded in 1989 by Johnson, an inventor and electronic engineer, is a product-development company based in Stellenbosch, near Cape Town in South Africa, with its U.S. office in Bethlehem, Pa. EDH, which develops products for the military and sports markets, has as its core expertise the design and development of 3D tracking radar systems. In 2003 the EDH Golf system was launched under the name "FlightScope."

FlightScope will have a prominent presence at the 2005 PGA Merchandise Show, as follows: on Tee #3 at Demo Day at Orange County National GC Jan. 26; in Booth #3837 Jan. 27-30 on the Show floor; and at the Equipment Test Center as a sponsor, specifically for PGA professionals and attending media. Also, Marc Solda will give a presentation and demonstration in the grandstand at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, on FlightScope and its benefits for the golf industry: teaching academies, club fitters, green grass facilities, ranges and retailers.
