Sea Trail Golf Resort hosts inaugural tournament for golf writers

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. -- Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center, located in Sunset Beach, N.C. hosted their inaugural Sea Trail Golf Writers Invitational Tournament April 4-6 at the resort's Jones and Maples courses. Participants included 12 golf writers from across the United States and Canada.

Grant Hall of The Morning News Of Northwest Arkansas won the event, and Denis Messier, of La Tribune in Quebec, Canada was the tournament's runner-up.

"We at Sea Trail were honored to host this invitational tournament and the great group of guys who participated in it," said Tom Plankers president of golf at Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center. "We developed this event as a prelude to Augusta, a stop along the way for writers heading there for The Masters. It was an opportunity for them to enjoy the camaraderie of their fellow writers, as well as some friendly competition. They told us they had a lot of fun and they gathered a lot of information for a travel feature. It was a win-win for them and for Sea Trail, so we plan to build on its success next year and invite even more writers to participate."
