Jan. 26, 2005 – Due to the Hurricanes in Florida the 2004 PCA Caddie Hall of Fame ceremony will be held at the largest golf show in the world: 2005 PGA Show in Orlando, FL. Time: Friday, January 28th at 1pm in room 312A at the Orlando Convention Center.
The following caddies will be honored at the ceremony:
Van Costa
Van Costa has enjoyed great success as a senior business executive in the cable telecommunications industry for the last twenty years. Much of his business accomplishments can be accredited to his people skills that were developed as and LPGA and PGA Tour caddie, during his summer months off from high school and college, during the decade of the 1970’s.
Born in Worcester Massachusetts, Mr. Costa now resides in Boca Raton Florida. He still maintains a very close friendship with Al Geiberger and his family as well as LPGA great Mary Mills.
Van has been apart of the history of the world of professional golf. He was one of the original caddies that began traveling with the LPGA tour in the summer of 1973. During his caddie career he shouldered the bag for Hall of Fame players such as Sandra Haynie and all-time greats such as Jan Blalock, Sally Little and Mary Mills.
Oscar Goings
CaddieMaster, Oscar Goings born February 14, 1940 has been caddying since he was Ten years old at Winchester CC. His brother said that it would be a stepping-stone in his life, Oscar liked caddying and became the top caddie at the club and won many awards during his days as a caddie. 54 years later he is still at Winchester Country Club and has seen numerous generations pass through the caddie ranks under his guidance as the Caddie Manager at the club.
Oscar Goings has made a difference through his profession he has touched the lives of many people young and old to show their affection and appreciation for Oscar’s over 50 years of service with the Club.
D. Vincent Williams and Mike Geiger will receive the Lynda Barco Award (PCA Missions Support Our “Angels”)
