Srixon introduces revolutionary Z-UR golf ball

ATLANTA – Jan. 24, 2005 – Srixon Sports, a world leader in golf ball and golf club technology, has announced a new benchmark in urethane performance technology: the Srixon Z-UR. Already a winner on tour (Miguel Angel Jiménez at the Omega Hong Kong Open), the revolutionary new Z-UR golf ball has several features that only a technology leader like Srixon could develop.

It starts with an incredibly soft, shear-resistant, and membrane-thin urethane-elastomer cover measuring an astounding 0.02-inch thin-a noticeable contrast to some competitors' multi-layer balls whose covers are more than 50-percent thicker. The Z-UR features the largest and fastest Energetic Gradient Growth core Srixon has ever developed. It's the largest core because of the incredibly thin cover and the fastest core because of the high velocity ionomer boundary layer combined with the addition of the resilience enhancing proprietary bis(PentaBromophenyl) DiSulfide or PBDS.

Finally, the 330-dimple pattern of the Z-UR combines high trajectory with a penetrating ball flight for stability in all cross winds and head winds. The Z-UR is a ball with tremendous initial velocity, ideal ball flight and aerodynamics, and pinpoint control and feel.

"With the incredible new Z-UR, Srixon again raises the bar on golf ball performance, specifically for modern, multi-layer performance golf ball technology," said Richard Stamper, Srixon's President. "The expertise to be able to engineer a cover that's only 0.02-inch thick-when some of the competitors' best selling balls have covers more than 50-percent thicker-and then complement that with an incredibly powerful and resilient core can truly only be found in a company that has the resources, experience, and technical capability as Srixon. Quite simply, the Z-UR is the longest, most playable multi-layer performance ball Srixon has ever made," added Stamper.

In addition to Miguel Angel Jiménez, golf fans will be able to see many of Srixon's tour professionals teeing up the Z-UR, including Alex Cejka, Brian Davis, John Huston, Tim Petrovic and John Rollins, among others.

The Z-UR will be sold exclusively in on- and off-course golf shops and carries a suggested retail price of $55 per dozen.
