Ashworth renews supporting partnership in Golf Retirement Plus

Ashworth Inc., a leading designer of men’s and women’s golf-inspired lifestyle sportswear, has renewed its supporting partnership in Golf Retirement Plus™.

Founded in 1987, and headquartered in Carlsbad, Calif., Ashworth Golf Company has revolutionized the golf apparel industry. Ashworth shifted the fashion movement in the game to be more in-step with present fashion styles, a blend of traditional classic golf, with a modern twist from a West Coast point of view.

Within 10 years, Ashworth became the No. 1 apparel brand in golf and, by the late 1990s, had established a positive movement in golf apparel for more than two decades.

“Ashworth is a company that is highly respected among PGA Professionals and throughout the industry for its excellence in both product and level of service,” said PGA of America President Brian Whitcomb. “Ashworth is a partner that our member professionals and their customers continue to value in apparel choices, and we are very pleased that Ashworth will continue to be a loyal supporter of Golf Retirement Plus.”

Ashworth’s range of upscale golfwear is designed for on and off the course. The product line showcases innovative fabrics and technical performance that is always crafted with pride and strict attention to detail.

Brand new for 2008, Ashworth has introduced four new categories to the collection. They include a cutting edge hybrid that blends cotton/poly into lightweight and comfortable performance fabrics. In addition, the EZ Tech Hi-Def 100% cotton is being taken to the next level by adding a proprietary “Innosoft” finish to create the ultimate in functional luxury. Meanwhile, Ashworth goes green with the introduction of “Ashworth Organics” – a 100% organic product line that is environmentally-friendly in its entirety. And, the Capsule Collection under the sub-brand label of ASHW33, is more graphic and hip, with a style geared toward the younger mindset.

Ashworth is an official apparel licensee of Callaway Golf Company, and is a leading designer, producer and distributor of headwear and apparel under The Game® and Kudzu® brands. In January, Ashworth Inc. acquired the Sunice® brand trademarks for the technical outerwear collections. The Ashworth brand is sold worldwide in more than 20 countries.

“Ashworth is proud to be a part of Golf Retirement Plus,” said Jim Dougherty, senior director of strategic accounts and sales for Ashworth Golf. “The PGA Professional is one of the key foundations in the game of golf. They teach and grow the game, as well as conduct the business of golf. Ashworth has long been partners with The PGA of America and we will continue to build on that partnership.”

Founded in 1997, Golf Retirement Plus™ is a supplemental retirement program for PGA Professionals and apprentices, GCSAA Superintendents, and CMAA Club Managers, which allows them to make their own contributions or have their employers contribute to their Golf Retirement Plus™ account on their behalf.
