CHICAGO -- Wilson Golf announced that the Wilson Staff Ci7 irons have been named a winner in GOLF Magazine’s ClubTest 2008, a ratings guide featuring the year’s latest and greatest golf equipment. The Ci7 series earned the highest ratings for “Best for Look” and ”Best for Feel” and achieved a five-star rating overall to top the game-improvement category for irons in ClubTest 2008. In addition to look and feel, the ratings took into consideration playability, forgiveness and distance.
In GOLF Magazine’s May issue, hitting newsstands this month, the ClubTest panel described the Ci7 as a “Terrific combo of tour-style feel with game-improvement forgiveness…lets you use whatever skill you have; cuts through rough like butter.”
The Wilson Staff Ci7 series, recently launched as part of the most robust product offering in the company’s history, was created to further establish Wilson Golf’s stronghold in the iron category and to complement the acclaimed Di7 collection. The Ci7 irons, the latest version of the Ci series, were used by Wilson Staff professional Stewart Ginn to capture his first European Seniors Tour title last week at the inaugural Azores Senior Open.
The Ci7 has been recreated with a TOUR-inspired, mid-size shape designed to assist a broad range of players. The Ci7’s cavity-back notch generates increased MOI, its thin face produces more power and the undercut cavity provides greater head stability. Club head weighting and shaft technologies translate to maximum playability. The steel and graphite shaft options feature Progressive Tip Design, providing a softer tip (lower kick point) in the long irons for higher ball flight and a stiffer tip (higher kick point) in the scoring irons to maximize control and accuracy.
The Ci7 steel shaft option is a TOUR-proven True Temper Tx 105 lightweight shaft that generates increased swing speed for longer shots; and the Ci7 graphite option showcases the lightweight UST Proforce V2 shaft technology for stability and accuracy.
Additionally, Ci7 irons feature Wilson’s exclusive Elastomeric paint coating in the back cavity, which dampens vibration by up to 1/3, lending a much softer feel, particularly on missed hit shots.
Since 1911, Wilson Golf engineers and designers have developed and designed more irons than any other golf company in the world, with 59 major championships being won with Wilson irons, more than any other iron in history.
