CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Demonstrating a powerful combination of
confidence and determination, Cobra ambassador Geoff Ogilvy stared down a
world-class field at the WGC-CA Championship en route to a wire-to-wire
win. It marked the fourth career victory for Ogilvy, who became just the
third player with multiple wins at World Golf Championship events. Ogilvy
captured the 2006 WGC-Accenture Match Play, which he followed up with the
U.S. Open Championship the same year.
With the event suspended on Sunday due to intermittent weather delays and
darkness, Ogilvy returned on Monday to par in over the final nine holes to
close with a 1-under 71 and a 17-under 271 total, one shot clear of three
players and two shots better than the World No. 1.
Among the equipment trusted by Ogilvy for his success is the King Cobra
Speed Pro D (9.5) driver, X Speed (13.0) fairway metal, new Pro MB (3-9)
irons and a Pro CB 2-iron. Ogilvy averaged over 289 yards off the tee and
displayed his consistency with his irons throughout the event, leading the
field in Greens in Regulation with a 76.4 percentage.
