VAIL, Colo. -- "The other day I broke 70; that's a lot of clubs!" quipped comedian Henny Youngman; you might also need a lot of clubs to rise to the Antlers at Vail Golf Challenge, a 108-hole, 6-course golfing adventure, available throughout Vail's 2008 golf season. The package includes lodging and golf for two at six extraordinary mountain golf courses -- each with its own unique terrain and personality:
1. Lakota Canyon Ranch (http://lakotacanyonranch.com/golf.htm) in Newcastle, with elevated tee boxes dropping 100 feet to the fairway
2. Sonnenalp Golf Course (www.sonnenalp.com/activities/golf/the_course.html), a championship, links-style members-only course
3. Cotton Ranch Golf Club (www.cottonranchclub.com), the only Pete Dye Signature Course in the Vail Valley
4. Eagle Ranch Golf Course (www.eagleranchgolf.com), designed by Arnold Palmer and known as the local's favorite
5. Eagle-Vail Golf Club (www.eaglevail.org/golf.html) a Golf Digest four-star rated Devlin/Von Hagge-designed 18-hole championship course
6. Vail Golf Club (www.vailrec.com/venues_golfclub.htm), highest of the courses at 8,200 feet and known for its laid-back Colorado attitude
Prices for the 6-day, 7-night package start at $1021 per person in the autumn and $1268 per person mid-sumer, subject to availability. Golfers may also stay and play for as little as one day/one night; per-night golf/lodging packages start at $149 per person. All packages include double occupancy in a spacious studio suite at the Antlers, golf cart rental, range balls and one round of golf per day for each person and all taxes, subject to availability. Golfers who complete the six-course challenge will also win a special gift pack that includes a golf shirt, a limited-edition golf cap, a custom assortment of top-quality golf balls from the participating courses and more.
The Antlers offers condominiums ranging from studio suites up to 4 bedrooms, all with full kitchens, fireplaces and outdoor balconies. Every room has all the comforts of home, and the property includes a sparkling new heated-year-round outdoor pool, a fitness room, two hot tubs, saunas and a heated parking garage.
