Champ Stinger named Official Cleat of the LRMA

MARLBOROUGH, MA – Jan. 20, 2005 – The Champ Stinger spike is fast becoming one of the most talked-about soft golf spikes in the game. Just ask the Locker Room Managers Association (LRMA), which just named the Stinger the Official Cleat of the LRMA (www.yourlrma.com).

The Champ Stinger was introduced in 2004 and has posted 35 wins in less than 12 months of competition on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, Champions Tour and the Nationwide Tour. No wonder then that the president of the LRMA-an organization started in 1999 to address the issues, concerns and careers of Locker Room Managers across the country-wanted to be able to offer the Stinger to its members.

"The Champ Stinger is a great cleat," said Todd Dufek, president of the LRMA. "It provides excellent traction in all conditions, it has a wear indicator that shows when the cleats need to be changed, and they are proven to wear longer, which saves money for our members and their clubs. Due to its superior characteristics, I definitely give it my endorsement."

Designed with feedback from thousands of professional and amateur golfers and years of research, the Champ Stinger features soft durometer TPU for cushioning and durability. The Stinger also offers unparalleled traction through primary and secondary traction elements that provide gripping power, stability and support from the ground up. And its spring-flex traction makes the Stinger extra friendly to the greens. The most revolutionary feature of the Stinger spike is the Visible Wear Indicator, which lets golfers know exactly when to change their cleats. The unique "C" design on the Visible Wear Indicator on the bottom of the spike turns solid black when the cleat needs changing, usually after about 20 rounds-twice as long as the nearest competitor.

"Champ is excited about this partnership with the Locker Room Managers Association," said Harris MacNeill, CEO of Champ/MacNeill Engineering. "Todd has created a great organization that offers an excellent networking opportunity for all of his members and a great resource, especially for industry trends. We are thrilled that the LRMA is endorsing the Stinger as its official cleat, because you couldn't ask for better product validation than from the guys who are responsible for ensuring the traction and comfort of their members."
