X-TREMEGOLF.TV wants four male and four female passionate golfers who can never get enough golf in their lives. Golfers who are ready to compete in a whirlwind 6-day television event tournament that is a golf holiday marathon!
This fast paced elimination rivalry is tempered with elements of 'The Great Race' meets 'Survivor’ salt- and-peppered with surprising and unpredictable twists and turns. And there's always a catch.
The Producers will be injecting a variety of nuisances and irritations during each round to distract players and elevate the pressure. There is no element of this tournament that players will be able to anticipate, that keeps them on edge.
"Golfers have to be somewhat masochistic," says Alan Aylward, Creative Producer behind the project. "It's a game that demands focus and concentration and is virtually impossible to master. It’s riddled with frustration and humiliation and yet players keep coming back for more embarrassment."
Nowhere in the world is the golf fanatic more evident than in Canada and the U.S. Statistics indicate that approximately 32% of Canadians play golf at least occasionally with Americans at over 27%. That's more participation than hockey and soccer combined! In the US golf is an estimated 65 Billion-dollar industry, ranking ahead of gaming and entertainment.
Each day's round of 18 holes will be followed with a reward & elimination challenge that will send one player packing.
The reward winner will enjoy a remarkable evening of 1st class hospitality while the losers will face a more adventurous no-frills evening.
The travel itinerary will be frantic. Only three finalists will remain to compete for the grand prize and the glory on the 6th day. Under these circumstances, the best golfer may not win.
Successful candidates will be required to participate for 7 - 9 consecutive days. Competitors will have all expenses paid.
In addition to a grand prize (to be announced) each player will receive $100 (CAD) for each day they survive the tournament. Competitors will be documented by TV crews 24/7.
Production is to commence this October and the six episodes will air in Canada and the U.S. in early 2005. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older (no upper age limits).
