Lija Premiers New Women's Apparel Collection

(Vancouver, BC, Canada) – Linda Hipp – the popular designer of women’s golf and active apparel – today announces that Lija will introduce three striking new collections and an expanded Basics line for Fall 2005 at the PGA Merchandise Show, January 27-30 in Orlando, Florida.

Entitled “Purple Rain,” “Brown Eyed Girl,” and “Winter Wonderland,” these collections follow-up the extremely successful Spring 2005 line from Linda Hipp. All three feature the distinctive, European-inspired styling that have made Hipp’s designs a favorite of fashion-conscious golfers and non-golfers alike for the past seven years.

The 86 pieces that make up these collections include pants, capris, shorts of various lengths, skirts, skorts, polos of various sleeve lengths, sweaters, knit vests and outerwear. Prices range from $50 (USD) for some tops to $300 (USD) for select pieces of technical outerwear.

“The driving force behind these three collections was to offer an eclectic look and feel that allows women to match various pieces and create outfits that complement their own unique personalities,” says Hipp. “It’s always been very important to me to offer options for different women so that they can express themselves while looking good on-course and off.”

All of the items from these three collections and the expanded Basics line are highlighted in a striking 28-page, full-color catalog available by visiting with Lija at PGA Merchandise Show booth #14025, by calling 604.270.6060, or by visiting www.lijastyle.com.

About the Collections
Purple Rain (32-pieces, ships June 15)
Purple, one of Fall’s primary colors takes the stage for Lija in Fall ’05. Tonal purples in grape and plum are paired with blush and winter white to create a soft, feminine collection of sportswear. The mix of patterns & textures is apparent in this group with plaid & floral prints, quilted outerwear with sherpa lining, and stretch cord. Beautiful checked & argyle print sweaters in a cashmere blend give Purple Rain a sense of luxury and regal flair.

Technical fabrications are showcased in both lightweight knit tops and a soft “shag” fleece. Offered in fashion colors, our technical pieces are sure to spice up any wardrobe.
Brown Eyed Girl (33 pieces, ships July 15)
City girl chic with eclectic flair. Rich, beautiful colors of chocolate, air and pumpkin are thrown together to create a collection with a strong sense of home comfort and diverse sensibility.
The glen check, a classic menswear print, is offered for that playful tomboy look in both a Capri pant and Bermuda short. Stretch cord for skirts & pants and quilted sherpa outerwear give depth and texture to this group. Checks, florals, stripes and a unique ‘circle’ print give Brown Eyed Girl a real retro feel.
Technical pieces are also available in fashion colors of chocolate and air in both knit tops and our Polartec “Wind Pro” jackets and vests.
Winter Wonderland (21 pieces, ships October 15)
Whether you live along the coast of California or near the Great Lakes in Michigan, Winter Wonderland is a key color group for the winter months. Based with a rich winter white, this collection offers more earthy tones of olive, petrol and ocean accented with chartreuse, a fresh, bold citrus green.
Our stretch twill stripe print is the focal point for this collection. Hidden zippers and oversized buttons provide feminine detailing for all of our polo shirts – sleeveless to 3/4-sleeve length.
The smallest of the three groups, Winter Wonderland provides a perfect neutral collection to transition from Holiday to the Spring season.
About Lija
Lija apparel – pronounced Lee-zha – is worn by numerous LPGA Tour players, including chic, young star Jill McGill. The company has received significant recognition within and outside the golf industry, achieving organic annual sales growth of at least 50 percent each of the past four years. Enjoying a rapidly expanding sales force and account base in North America, Lija recently began selling into the UK, Australian and Japanese markets.
Recent recognition for the company includes being awarded the prestigious 2004 APEX Award for the Power Shield Double Zip Jacket, and being named one of the “Top-5 Up-and-Coming Women’s Golf Apparel” companies in North America by Golf World Business. Individually, Linda Hipp has been nominated as Ernst & Young’s 2004 Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year, honored as a grant recipient of the Matinee Fashion Foundation Award, which annually recognizes and funds select Canadian designers, and voted a “40 Under 40” winner by Business in Vancouver.
The 37-year-old Hipp previously worked as a business development executive for Vancouver’s Canucks (NHL) and Grizzlies (NBA). An avid and highly-skilled golfer, Hipp struggled to find on-course apparel that meshed with her off-course fashion sensibility. Recognizing a market opportunity – and the chance to combine her passions for fashion, golf and business – Hyp Golf was launched in July 1997. Chiefly influenced by both European trends and West Coast style, Hipp has garnered a widespread reputation as one of the hottest designers in active fashion.
