LAS VEGAS – Jan. 17, 2005 – Virgin River Casino Corporation, RBG, LLC and B & B B, Inc. (collectively, the "CasaBlanca Resorts") has reported that its facilities and related amenities were substantially unaffected by the flooding caused by recent winter storms. CasaBlanca Resorts owns and operates the CasaBlanca Hotel & Casino, the Oasis Hotel & Casino and the Virgin River Hotel & Casino and their respective amenities located in and around Mesquite, Nevada. CasaBlanca Resorts also owns the Virgin River Convention Center (formerly the Mesquite Star).
Since early January, winter storms have brought record rainfall to southern Nevada, including Mesquite and its surrounding area. Resulting floodwaters have prompted evacuations in the low-lying areas of Mesquite, but most of the damage from the winter storms occurred in surrounding towns such as Santa Clara, Utah, Beaver Dam, Arizona, and Overton, Nevada.
"All of our properties came through the flooding just fine," says Randy Black, owner and managing partner of CasaBlanca Resorts. "While we certainly feel for all of those who were more adversely affected or had property destroyed by the floods in the Overton and Mesquite area on Wednesday, because our golf courses and hotels sit on or near Interstate 15, they were spared any significant damage."
Three holes at the CasaBlanca Golf Course were under water following the initial flooding Wednesday evening. However, two of those holes were playable by midday Thursday, when skies had cleared and temperatures reached in the mid-60's. All 18 holes are expected to be playable by Wednesday, January 19th. The Palms Golf Course suffered no damage at all, nor did the CasaBlanca Hotel & Casino, the Virgin River Hotel & Casino, the Oasis Hotel & Casino or the Virgin River Convention Center.
