SANTA ANA, Calif. -- GolfLinx International, Inc. is launching the world’s most advanced soil moisture sensor at the Golf Industry Show in Orlando, Florida, as part of a broad strategy to provide golf industry professionals with direct access to the best tools for managing water use.
The launch of the AquaSpy Turf Probe is one of a number of developments to be announced at the Golf Industry Show, reinforcing GolfLinx as a leader in water management solutions for the golf and sports turf industries.
GolfLinx International CEO Nigel Hennessy said soil moisture technology is an essential tool for superintendents who are faced with dramatic water shortages and the need to cut costs, all while maintaining the demands of upholding the playability on their golf courses.
“The U.S. is experiencing tough drought conditions and finding the right technology for water management is a critical issue for these experienced superintendents,” Mr. Hennessy said. “Advanced technologies such as our new multi-sensor probe not only deliver water savings but enable managers to fine tune and manipulate the speed of the greens and bring the course up to competition level.”
Golflinx and its parent company AquaSpy Group have a strong heritage in the U.S. and are widely recognized for supplying sophisticated soil moisture technology in irrigated agriculture sectors since 1998. They are now expanding into golf, sports turf and urban landscape.
GolfLinx offers an affordable, comprehensive system of high performance plug-and-play sensors that are highly compatible, mass produced, require no maintenance, and use little power. The probes are placed on tee boxes, fairways and on the greens to take into account different micro-climates, soil types and compaction.
GolfLinx test sites in the United States and Australia are producing a dramatic reduction in irrigation output ranging from 15 to 35%. These water savings will significantly reduce run-off and power costs, and ensure the turf is not being over-watered and key nutrients or pesticides are not being leached out of the root zone.
GolfLinx EC (salinity) sensors enable greens flushing and salt monitoring with unprecedented precision at the three-inch and eight-inch levels. This, combined with the multi-sensor probe, provides an X-ray of the soil profile which also helps with decisions including the application of pre-emergent, seeding and aeration.
Mr. Hennessy said GolfLinx would soon announce an exciting new distribution agreement with one of the leading irrigation distribution companies in the U.S.
Mr. Bruce Devlin, member of the GolfLinx Advisory board, will be on hand at the Golf Industry Show (Booth 4981) to share his experiences with GolfLinx systems over the past few years. As a former golf professional with eight PGA victories and more than 140 highly recognized golf course designs, he regards water management as an important aspect on today’s golf course.
“It is critical the superintendent uses smart water technologies to achieve precision in water management across the golf course,” Mr. Devlin said.
