BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Jan. 13, 2005 – FlightScope by EDH Sport was used by Golf Digest during its 10-day summit and golf academy in October at the Primm Valley Casino Resorts on the California-Nevada border, as part of the magazine's testing for its second annual "Hot List" published in its February 2005 edition.
EDH Sport provided its FlightScope ball tracking technology to Golf Digest for equipment testing sessions. "It was our pleasure to comply with the request from Golf Digest," said Marc Solda, president of EDH Sport. "They were looking for the most accurate technology for their thorough equipment analysis and we provided the FlightScope Pro to accommodate their needs. FlightScope technology added an important dimension for accuracy as well as data collection for their testing sessions."
FlightScope, introduced at last year's PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla., is a portable indoor-outdoor ball-flight monitor that employs a Phase Array Tracking Sensor and proprietary technology to record accurately the ball in flight and to provide actual launch data. The characteristic distinguishing FlightScope from existing launch monitor technology is that FlightScope is the only product in the world that can record the ball flight accurately in the precise environment in which the ball travels, thereby providing actual rather than implied data. The resultant ability of golfers, instructors and club fitters to see the actual ball trajectory at various angles allows them to make precise adjustments for enhanced performance.
Awareness of the advanced technology of FlightScope by EDH Sport has increased vastly this past year. FlightScope, currently in use by numerous leading golf instructors, academies and club fitters across the U.S., now is taking hold worldwide.
A number of entities recently have incorporated FlightScope by EDH Sport into their high-tech approach to total swing analysis and club fitting. FlightScope now is being offered by Hot Stix Technologies, an American company based in Scottsdale, Ariz.,offering advanced automated club-fitting and swing-analysis technology at a number of locations across the U.S. Also, FlightScope technology was installed earlier this year at the PGA of America Learning Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla., and was featured during Play Golf America Day, Dec. 8, and during the PGA Teaching & Coaching Summit, Dec. 9-12.
FlightScope's recent television exposure has included the Nedbank Challenge, played Dec. 2-5 in S. Africa, where FlightScope technology was installed on several tees and was visible to viewers in over 60 countries. Actual swing and ball flight data was presented to the viewers showing how the world's leading Tour players perform. FlightScope also was in prominent use at the "Battle at the Bridges," a charity exhibition match televised live in the U.S. by ESPN and ABC Aug. 2 from the Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., featuring Tiger Woods and Hank Kuehne in match play against John Daly and Phil Mickelson.
EDH, founded in 1989 by Henri Johnson, Chairman and CEO, an inventor and electronic engineer, is a product development company based in Stellenbosch, near Cape Town in South Africa, with its U.S. office in Bethlehem, Pa. EDH, which develops products for the military and sports markets, has as its core expertise the design and development of 3D tracking radar systems. Last year the EDH Golf system was launched under the name "FlightScope."
FlightScope will be on display at the upcoming PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla., as follows: at Demo Day at Orange County National GC Jan. 26; and Jan. 27-30, on the Show floor in Booth # 3837 and as part of the Equiment Test Center.
