DALLAS -- Inspired by Beryl Co-Founder Barry Spiegelman’s courageous battle with brain cancer, The Beryl Institute is hosting the inaugural Barry Spiegelman Memorial Golf Classic on March 25 at Bear Creek Golf Club in Dallas. Spiegelman lost his fight with brain cancer in September 2005. To celebrate his life and the treatment he received, proceeds from the tournament will be presented to UCLA’s Neuro-Oncology Program, Art of the Brain.
“Barry championed two characteristics that Beryl is known for today – our unique corporate culture and steadfast commitment to exceptional customer service,” said Beryl CEO Paul Spiegelman, Barry’s brother and business partner. “This tournament is our way of keeping Barry’s vitality alive and supporting an organization that does so much for people battling brain cancer.”
Tournament fees of $150 for individuals or $600 per foursome include course fees, contest awards and a dinner reception. Sponsorships ranging from $500-$2,000 are available. Information and registration is available at www.beryl.net/golf.
About Art of the Brain
Brain cancer survivor and community activist Judi Kaufman and Dr. Timothy Cloughesy, director of the UCLA Neuro-Oncology Program, founded Art of the Brain in 2000 in order to raise money for the UCLA Neuro-Oncology Program’s brain cancer research; raise public awareness about brain cancer; and spotlight the talent, strength and courage of brain cancer patients around the world and assist patients and their caregivers in using creativity to regain their self-worth and personal power. Now in its eighth year, Art of the Brain operates under the auspices of the UCLA Foundation, a 502(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
