ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Christmas is Dec. 25 on everyone’s calendar except for 237 “at-risk” youngsters who will get a big holiday gift five days early (Dec. 20) when they commemorate the culmination of a joint initiative between Project Success and Total Golf Adventures. In celebration of the program’s success, participants will be treated to field trip to the Tiger Woods Learning Center from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Dec. 20.
Total Golf Adventures (TGA) joined forces with Project Success, a California entitlement initiative, to introduce golf enrichment program to more than 200 under-privileged elementary school students, grades 4-6, in the Newport-Costa Mesa School District. TGA has built a successful business model featuring the only national at-school, after-school, golf enrichment program of its type in the country.
“When we first heard about TGA we knew it would be a strong after-school enrichment program. Celebrating the success of our program at the TWLC is a great bonus for our kids,” says Julpha Dormitorio, Project Success Administrator. “We’re looking for something different for our youngsters, something unique and something out of the ordinary. We came across Total Golf Adventures and the rest is history. Most of the students in the program are mixed with a heavy Latino population along with Asians, African Americans and Caucasians.”
“Joining forces with Project Success provided us with further endorsement of the direction we are going with our after-school, at-school golf enrichment concept. We are pleased that these at-risk youngsters will visit the Tiger Woods Learning Center,” says Joshua Jacobs, founder and president of the California-based company.
Total Golf Adventures also works very closely with the Southern California PGA section. "The SCPGA Foundation is very honored to be involved with both the Tiger Woods Learning Center and Total Golf Adventures. It is very rewarding to see an event come together that exposes so many young people to the game of golf and the opportunities it provides.,” says Nikki Gatch, Assistant Executive Director, Southern California PGA.
TGA’s programs extend beyond learning the game of golf and honing the golf swing. A child’s passion for the game of golf grows with a program that expands and improves their motor skills and coordination, encourages their advancement, and builds their confidence and self-esteem.
TGA’s 5 Level Program uses curriculums developed by PGA and LPGA Golf Professionals and child development and education experts. Their input has ensured that TGA’s curriculums reinforce educational concepts such as arithmetic and reading, while teaching golf. In addition, the TGA program promotes and teaches golf’s life values intrinsic to the game of golf through our unique character development programs.
