Houston Boys Invitational at Redstone by HP and Administaff

BRASELTON, Ga. -- The American Junior Golf Association will open its 2008 Invitational schedule in the Houston Area with the Houston Boys Invitational at Redstone presented by HP and Administaff, Feb. 15-18, 2008. The 78-player, all boys field of junior golfers (ages 12-18) will play the Redstone Golf Club – Tournament Course in Humble, Texas, home of the PGA TOUR’s Shell Houston Open.

“HP is excited to continue its 14-year partnership with the AJGA, and is proud to support an organization that exhibits professionalism, runs first-class tournaments and develops the future of golf,” said John Dayan, HP’s Vice President of Marketing.

Based in Houston, HP has sponsored the HP Boys Invitational for the past five years and will enter its 14th year sponsoring the HP Scholastic Junior All-America Team. The Houston Boys Invitational at Redstone presented by HP and Administaff becomes the 11th Invitational on the AJGA’s 80-tournament 2008 schedule.

“We’ve been working hard with the AJGA to bring an Invitational to the Houston community, and we look forward to building this event into a premier tournament on the AJGA schedule,” said Randy McCollum, Administaff Vice President of Strategic Alliances. “The players will have the opportunity to play a PGA TOUR venue six weeks before the TOUR event, so they will play a great course in pristine condition.”

The Houston Golf Association has been conducting PGA TOUR events since 1946, making Houston’s tournament the 10th oldest on the TOUR schedule. The Shell Houston Open has been held at Redstone Golf Club for the past two years, with Australia’s Adam Scott winning the 2007 crown.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.

The largest Association of its kind, the AJGA has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of more than 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and more than 25 foreign countries.

Titleist, the AJGA’s National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association’s success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA’s second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. More than 160 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have compiled more than 300 wins. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Cristie Kerr, Pat Hurst, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel and Julieta Granada.
