GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Jan. 6, 2005 – Jim Flick, named by Golf World magazine as one of Top Ten Teachers of the Century, will headline the 17th annual West Michigan Golf Show, Feb. 4-6, 2005 at DeVos Place, downtown Grand Rapids, MI.
Continuing its tradition of showcasing some of the best teachers in the game, the West Michigan Golf Show in concert with Boyne Super Five Golf Schools will host Flick who’ll provide free clinics on Saturday, Feb. 5. “Knowing that many of my colleagues have appeared at the Show and hearing of its popularity, I’m excited about my visit to Grand Rapids,” said Flick. “From my experience at Boyne, I know West Michigan is a hotbed of avid golfers always eager to improve their games.”
A teacher for over 50 years, Flick helped launch the celebrated Golf Digest School in 1972, becoming its Director of Instruction for 15 years. Later he co-founded with Jack Nicklaus, the Nicklaus-Flick Schools. He has taught in 23 nations and completed over 1,000 three-day golf schools. As the Dean of Golf Instruction at the Boyne Golf Academy, Flick is also an author of four golf instructional books and countless magazine articles. Flick is known for his lucid teaching methods aimed at having his students becoming their own coach. About him Jack Nicklaus has said: “Jim Flick helps people understand and love the game of golf…I’ve never met anyone better at helping people enjoy themselves and have fun on the golf course than Jim.”
Located inside the DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids, the West Michigan Golf Show will attract thousands of golfers on Feb. 4-6 to hundreds of exhibits featuring courses and resorts, equipment and accessories, interactive golf areas, contests, clinics and free lessons. Hours for the Show are 4:00 pm-9:00 pm, Friday; 9:00 am-7:00 pm, Saturday, and 9:00 am-4:00 pm, Sunday. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-14, and children 5 and under are free.
