CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Golf event planners and vendors serving the golf outing industry converged at the Lake Las Vegas Resort and The Ritz-Carlton Lake Las Vegas Nov. 12 and 13 for the inaugural Golf Event Planner Experience. Attendees networked, sharing valuable insight and knowledge, while experiencing first-hand the resort’s services and amenities.
“We have been reaching golf event planners in print and digitally, so the next logical step was to do it in person,” Brad Seybert, president/publisher, said. “Since our launch in January of 2006, we have had a great response from both our readers and our vendors. We saw an opportunity to take it to the next level by creating the Golf Event Planner Experience™ to allow properties to showcase their facilities to this attractive audience, our reader. By bringing vendors, planners and host properties together, it creates a networking experience that allows all participants the ability to interact and evaluate a potential fit. For the planners they get to experience a facility that they can comfortably recommend to their clients. For the vendors, they get the opportunity to showcase their products and services to decision makers that can bring them group business. The networking and sharing of ideas is beneficial to all involved.”
A cocktail reception at Casino MonteLago kicked off the event Monday night. Tuesday attendees were treated to breakfast and a surprise ride on the Ritz-Carlton’s yacht, the La Contessa. It was then onto the Reflection Bay Golf Club to observe the Wendy’s Three Tour Challenge before heading to The Falls Golf Club where attendees were able to experience the challenging layout themselves. The day wrapped up with several presentations: Challenges of planning large-scale events; sponsorships; and utilizing a celebrity component in your next event. Vendors representing National Hole-in-One Association, PeakVision Sports and TaylorMade-adidas Golf also spoke to attendees.
All guests said they would recommend the ExperienceTM to other golf event planners and would attend another ExperienceTM in the future. Tom Pascale, director of event operations, Fairways & Dreams, Omaha, Neb., said, “I just got home from the ExperienceTM and was moved to let you know how much I appreciated the trip, the networking, the accommodations, the golf… and, well, the entire experience! It was remarkable! I really felt honored to be to be included in your inaugural effort. The time flew by so fast; I could not have enjoyed it more.”
Coverage of the inaugural event will be included in the Winter 2007/08 issue of Golf Event. The next Golf Event Planner ExperienceTM is scheduled for March 12th, 2008, at the Daufuskie Island Resort and Breathe Spa, located off the coast of South Carolina.
