Wie to participate in fundraiser during Sony Open

HONOLULU – Jan. 5, 2005 – Michelle Wie, amateur golfer and Honorary Chairperson of the Kapiolani Children's Miracle Network, announced that she will participate in the Miracle Birdie Club fundraiser, which will take place during the 2005 Sony Open in Hawaii for the non-profit organization's ongoing mission to benefit children's programs and services in Michelle's home state of Hawaii.

At fifteen, Michelle Wie is the youngest amateur golfer invited by the Professional Golf Association (PGA) to play in the prestigious Sony Open in Hawaii. The tournament will be held at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu from January 13-16, 2005. Please refer to the full biography of Michelle Wie on our Web site at www.MiracleBirdieClub.com.

For 23 years, the Kapiolani Children's Miracle Network in Hawaii has provided direct assistance and support for families with children that require medical care. This is the first major non-profit organization with which Michelle has become associated thus far.

Michelle Wie said, "It is a privilege to be an Honorary Chairperson for the Kapiolani Children's Miracle Network and I am so excited to participate in the Miracle Birdie Club fundraiser. The Miracle Birdie Club participants will make a pledge for each birdie I make during the Sony Open and 100% of these monies go toward medical needs of Hawaii's keiki (children). I think that's really awesome and I am excited to be a part of it."
