TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- SouthWood Golf Club the award-winning public course at the heart of one of Tallahassee’s most comprehensively designed communities announces it will host the Pitch-Putt-Drive Junior Contest on November 4, and the Grove Park Ladies Match Play Championship on November 11-12.
The Pitch-Putt-Drive Junior Contest will begin at 2:00 p.m. and is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 17 paying the $10 entry fee. Participants will pitch three shots from the same location and receive points for proximity to the cup. Next, they will attempt a short and long putt, and points will be combined for the number of strokes to sink both. Finally, juniors will get two drives and will receive points for the longest drive that lands within the 40-yard-wide fairway. The best combined scores win, and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age division.

The Grove Park Ladies Match Play Championship format is two-person team tournament contested over two days and four nine-hole matches. The entry fee of $150 per player includes two days of competitive golf, continental breakfast, brunch, box lunches, cocktail party and dinner, tee gifts, door prizes and an awards luncheon. Participants may play practice rounds, paying cart fee only, from November 5-8.
Admission is limited to the first 48 teams to register. All women must have a USGA handicap to enter, with a maximum handicap difference of nine strokes between partners. Ladies will play from SouthWood’s #2 Green Tees, which measure 4,978 yards with a slope of 111 and course rating off 69.9. The final round, “Championship Shootout” begins at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 12.
