FAIRHAVEN, Mass. -- Golf is a global sport, and one of the
things that unifies it is the overwhelming trust players place in the
superior performance of Titleist golf balls. Eight more wins this week
advances Titleist's victory count across the worldwide professional tours
to 166, more than six times the nearest competitor with 25. Below is a
tour-by-tour breakdown of each victory this week:
PGA TOUR: It took an extra day, but Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalist
Daniel Chopra earned his first career PGA Tour victory with a one-shot win
at the Ginn sur Mer Classic. Chopra gained the lead with a birdie at the
par-5 16th hole Monday morning and held on to edge two players, including
Titleist ambassador Fredrik Jacobsen (Pro V1x, 907D2 driver, 906F prototype
fairway metal, 695CB irons, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges). Chopra
finished at 19-under, becoming the 12th first-time winner on the PGA Tour
this season. Play was suspended on Sunday due to darkness with three
groups still on the course. Dicky Pride (Pro V1), who was the leader in
the clubhouse on Sunday at 16-under, finished solo fourth.
Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 98
(74%) players relying upon the Pro V1 or Pro V1x, nearly nine times the
nearest competitor with 11. Titleist was also the most played iron (33),
wedge (125) and putter (51). The win was the 23rd for Titleist golf ball
players on the 2007 PGA Tour, more than all other balls combined.
PGA EUROPEAN: Titleist full-line staff player Gregory Bourdy (Pro V1x,
907D2 driver, 906F2 fairway metal, 585.H utility metal, 670 irons, Vokey
Design approach wedge, Spin Milled lob wedge, Scotty Cameron putter) of
France shot a 3-under 67 to win the Mallorca Classic for his first career
PGA European Tour title. Bourdy finished with a 12-under 268 total, two
shots clear of the runner-up. Robert-Jan Derksen (Pro V1x), who started
the round tied with Bourdy for the lead, was another shot back. The win
qualified Bourdy for next week's season-ending Volvo Masters at Valderrama.
He also became the Tour's record 18th first-time winner of 2007.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Mallorca Classic with 75
players (66%) relying on the Pro V1 or Pro V1x, five times the nearest
competitor with 15. The win was the 30th for Titleist golf ball players on
the 2007 PGA European Tour, six times the nearest competitor with 5.
LPGA: Suzann Pettersen (Pro V1) earned her second consecutive win, her
third in four weeks, and her fifth LPGA Tour title of the year with a
victory at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Pettersen converted a 15-foot eagle
putt on the 479-yard par 5 finishing hole for the one-shot win.
Pettersen's final round 1-under 71 gave her a 21-under 267 total. She
entered Sunday at 20-under after a firing a bogey-free 63 a day earlier.
Last week, Pettersen won the weather-shortened Hana Bank KOLON Championship
in South Korea. Earlier this year, she won the won the Michelob Ultra Open
in May for her first LPGA Tour victory and captured her first major title
at the McDonald's LPGA Championship in June. Four weeks ago, Pettersen won
in a playoff at the Longs Drugs Challenge. She also won the Ladies
European Tour's SAS Masters in August in Norway.
Titleist was the golf ball of choice with 45 (75%) of the 60 players at the
event, compared to 8 for the nearest competitor. The win was the 16th for
Titleist golf ball players on the 2007 LPGA Tour.
NATIONWIDE: With inclement weather forcing players to complete 36 holes
Sunday, rookie Marc Turnesa (Pro V1x, 907D2 driver, 906F2 fairway metal,
695.MB irons, Vokey Design sand wedge and Spin Milled lob wedge, Scotty
Cameron Xperimental putter) finished the two rounds in 3-under (69-70) to
earn his first career victory by one shot at the Miccosukee Championship.
Turnesa led the field with 23 birdies en route to a 15-under 269 total and
all but assured himself a 2008 PGA Tour card, moving from No. 43 to No. 13
on the Money List with only next week's Nationwide Tour Championship
remaining on the schedule. Jon Mills (Pro V1x, 907D2 driver, 906F2 fairway
metal, 755 irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled TVD sand and lob wedges, Scotty
Cameron prototype putter) and David Mathis (Pro V1x) finished one shot back
in second as Titleist golf ball players secured the top three positions.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Miccosukee Championship with
113 (79%) players, more than 11 times the nearest competitor with 10.
Titleist was also the most played iron (44), utility iron (2), wedge (142)
and putter (54). The win was the 19th for Titleist golf ball players on
the 2007 Nationwide Tour, more than three times the nearest competitor with

JAPAN: Frankie Minoza (Pro V1) earned his seventh career Japan Golf Tour
title in a playoff with 20-year old Dong-Hwan Lee (Pro V1x, 905R driver,
585.H utility metals, 695MB irons, Vokey Design approach and Spin Milled
lob wedge, Scotty Cameron putter). The pair finished regulation in a share
of the lead at 14-under par after Lee birdied three of his last four holes.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the ABC Championship with 39
(43%) players, compared to 15 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also
the most played utility metal (12), wedge (35) and was second in drivers
(13).
ASIA: Juvic Pagunsan of the Philippines (Pro V1x, 905R driver) captured the
Pertamina Indonesia President Invitational for his first career title on
the Asian Tour. Pagunsan finished birdie-eagle to shoot an impressive
final round of 7-under 65 and finish with a 19-under total. Nineteen
year-old Gaganjeet Bhullar (Pro V1x) enjoyed the best finish of his rookie
season by finishing just one shot out of a playoff. Bhullar actually had
the clubhouse lead at 18-under before watching Pagunsan roll in his eagle
putt to deny him the victory. Lee Westwood (Pro V1x) and Anthony Kang (Pro
V1x) tied for third at 16-under. In fact, 10 of the 12 players who
finished among the top 10 and ties trusted their success to Titleist golf
balls.
Of the 150 players in the field, 121 (81%) relied upon Titleist golf balls,
more than six times the nearest competitor with 18.
SOUTH AFRICA: Louis Oosthuizen (New Pro V1x) made par on the second playoff
hole to go wire-to-wire and win the Platinum Classic. Oosthuizen fired a
final round 2-under 70 to finish the week with an 11-under 205 and earn his
third victory of the season.
AUSTRALASIA: Ryan Haller (New Pro V1x) fired a final round 7-under 65,
including an eagle at the par-5 18th, to come from behind and win the City
Pacific - Mirvac Queensland Open by three shots. A total of 123 players
(79%) in the field at this week's event relied on Titleist as their ball of
choice, including 11 of the 14 players who finished among the top and ties.
