FAIRHAVEN, Mass. -- What a difference a year makes. Last
October, George McNeill was working as an assistant professional at a
Florida country club, yet he still dreamed of one day playing and winning
on the PGA Tour. After earning medalist honors and his Tour card at the
2006 Qualifying Tournament, the Titleist ambassador captured his first
career victory in convincing fashion at this week's Frys.com Open in Las
Vegas. McNeill's passion for the game, belief in himself and trust in his
equipment from tee-to-green helped him realize his dream. A fitting
achievement for George and for Titleist.
McNeill closed with a final round 5-under 67 and finished with a 23-under
264 total for a four shot victory over fellow Pro V1 loyalist D.J. Trahan.
Cameron Beckman (Pro V1x) and Robert Garrigus (Pro V1) tied for third at
15-under as Titleist golf ball players swept the top four positions on the
leaderboard.
New Titleist ambassador Colt Knost (Pro V1x, 907D4 prototype driver, 735.CM
irons, Vokey Design sand wedge and Spin Milled lob wedge, Scotty Cameron
putter) made his debut this week and finished tied for 38th with a 7-under
280 total.
