Dec. 28, 2004 – Europe’s biggest consumer golf show and the biggest tournament for club golfers in the world have come together and the International Pairs is now the official tournament of the London Golf Show.
Thousands of pairs from hundreds of golf clubs took part in last year’s UK International Pairs competition and the tournament is looking to promote itself at the show to expand even further.
The International Pairs is already the biggest competition in the world for club golfers. It has been licensed internationally with countries as far as the US, Canada, Australia and Russia holding competitions.
The London Golf Show has also been made an official partner of the International Pairs. Now the show will be promoted to golfers at every golf club taking part in the competition, as well as with all the tournament’s associates throughout the wider golfing world.
Ross Honey, founder of the International Pairs, said: “This is a fantastic new opportunity for UK golfers to visit a whole world of golf under one roof. The country has been crying out for an event like this and finally it is available to the public - and not before time.
“The team behind the golf show is innovative, imaginative and pro-active. I personally can’t wait for the doors to open and visit what’s bound to be the most exciting consumer golf event of the year.”
Ross Broadstock, managing director of RB Exhibitions, owner of the London Golf Show, said: “We are delighted to have made the International Pairs the official tournament of the London Golf Show.
“The London Golf Show is all about making the best in golf accessible to all golfers and that is exactly what the International Pairs does. There is no other competition that gives ordinary golfers the chance to represent their country and play under the same conditions as pros for just £5.
“Only six years ago the first tournament was confined to Hampshire and now it’s global - that shows the mass appeal of it. And it’s a success I hope the London Golf Show can replicate.”
The London Golf Show is more than just a show – it is a total golfing experience. It is a four-day retail exhibition aimed at all standards of golfer and showcases the best of more than 400 exhibitors, with products ranging from golf tees to golf resorts; from drivers to buggies.
Visitors will be able to try the latest in golf equipment, meet with the pros, get advice, find great deals on clubs and clothes and see a whole world of golfing destinations and holidays – all in the centre of London.
Among the visitor features are a floating green in the Victoria Docks for a hole-in-one competition, an indoor driving range and a nine-hole putting competition. The London Golf Show takes place at the ExCel Centre, London, on April 21-24, 2005. Check out the website at: www.londongolfshow.com.
