Annual Daytona 500 NASCAR-LPGA Charity Golf in February

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Dec. 27, 2004 – The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), NASCAR, Daytona International Speedway and the Speedway's Checkered Flag Committee are once again joining forces in 2005 to bring LPGA star golfers and NASCAR's top drivers and racing celebrities together for the second-annual Daytona 500 NASCAR-LPGA Charity Golf Classic Presented by Grande Champion.

The charity pro-celeb-am golf tournament benefits the Betty Jane France Center of Excellence for Children and Women, The LPGA Foundation and Checkered Flag Charities. The event, scheduled for Feb. 10-11, 2005, will kick off nearly two weeks of festivities leading up to NASCAR's most prestigious race of the year, the Daytona 500.

Participants in this unique event will be paired with an LPGA Tour player for nine holes and a NASCAR driver/racing celebrity for another nine holes at LPGA International's Legends Golf Course, which has hosted several national professional and amateur events since it opened in 1998. On Thursday, Feb. 10, LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) members will host an LPGA Golf Clinic at LPGA International, followed by a pairings party and silent auction at DAYTONA USA. The 32 pro-celeb-am teams will then compete in an 18-hole scramble format with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, followed by an awards reception at the LPGA International clubhouse.

Last year, the inaugural Daytona 500 NASCAR-LPGA Charity Golf Classic Presented by Grande Champion, which featured 16 LPGA Tour players and 16 NASCAR drivers and celebrities, raised $91,000 for charity.

Several levels of sponsorship are available, although space is extremely limited. For more information contact Ken Wooten at 386-274-6249 or Joe Petrock at 386-322-4785.
