Joe Redden Tigan has received five-star reviews from Midwest Book Review and Reader Views for his first novel, "Waggle."
Having ushered in the 2007 golf season and now available at all online booksellers, including amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com, "Waggle" is not only four men's (reluctant) search for enlightenment, it's also at parts a slightly demented guidebook on how certain golf bets are constructed and what is involved in the mechanics of many kinds of golf shots.
"It's always been my experience that a round of golf invariably has a way of clearing my head," Tigan says. "I wanted to write a book that magnified golf's ability to do that, and to a sort of ridiculously fictitious level. But still somehow credible. I suppose 'Waggle' tries to follow the advice given in its own title - find a Zen-like comfort level, then swing away."
Midwest Book Review stated that "Waggle" is "An involving novel about an awakening sense of social responsibility, highly recommended."
Reader Views calls "Waggle" "A golfer's dream of a great novel…you don't have to be an avid golfer to enjoy this book."
About "Waggle"
It's July 28, 2003 in Carlsburg, Ill., where almost everyone is employed in the real estate industry, indicating the need to accommodate the bone-jarring residential and commercial real estate development that has started to surround Chicago. Triple-the-Pines Golf Course, Tigan's oddly enchanted fictional Chicagoland course, is an escape from it. And possibly a zigzagging path towards enlightenment.
