"The PGA of America salutes Jerry Roggensack, the latest in a line of outstanding and worthy recipients of the Chip Beck/PGA Evans Scholarship," said PGA of America President Roger Whitcomb. "Our Association is very proud of the partnership with the Evans Scholars Foundation, which continues a tradition of providing a pathway to a college education for those who otherwise would have difficulty achieving their goals."

Roggensack was an Academic All-Conference selection and a member of the golf team for three years. He also is a two-year member of the National Honor Society, and has done extensive community service, including participating on the mayor's leadership council, volunteering at a homeless shelter, supporting a Hurricane Katrina fundraiser and a volunteer for a mission trip to South America.

"The Chip Beck/PGA Evans Scholarship will open doors for me to an education from Northwestern, something that my family and I would not otherwise be able to afford," said Roggensack.

The PGA Foundation is a supporter of the Chip Beck/PGA Evans Scholarship program. The program was established in 1994, three years after Beck became the second player in history to post a 59 in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. Beck's award was provided by Hilton Hotels Corporation, of which the PGA Foundation received a portion to use for future scholarship distribution. Since 1994, The PGA of America has contributed more than $175,000 to 14 scholar recipients in the program.

The Evans Scholars Foundation, founded in 1930 in honor of amateur golf great Chick Evans (1890-1979), administers the college scholarships and has awarded more than 8,500 scholarships to students, with more than 820 currently attending 20 universities nationwide. The program was begun for deserving caddies who seek a college education.
