IGCEMA announces formulation of its new environmental policy

The International Golf Course Equipment Manager's Association has released an Environmental Policy. The association is to encouraging its membership to adhere to the environmental requirements and to be proactive in how it approaches environmental protection for the future.

The new policy is:

We recognize our responsibility to be good stewards of the environment, and the IGCEMA is committed to environmental leadership in all of its business activities. To integrate this commitment into our global planning and operations we will strive to:

* Communicate the IGCEMA Environmental Policy to all relevant stakeholders including all our members and others working for or on our behalf.
* Encourage our members to comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, statutory obligations and relevant voluntary codes of practice.
* Develop and implement a "world first" environmental initiative for our industry encouraging our members to maintain an environmental management system that meets ISO 14001:2004 requirements.
* Make business decisions that work towards achieving sustainable outcomes.
* Encourage our members to conserve resources, reduce waste and eliminate or minimize adverse environmental effects and risks that may be associated with their activities, products or services.
* Work with our members to help them set and achieve their environmental objectives and review and report on environmental performance.
* Utilize the expertise of our members and supporters around the world to assist in the development of solutions to environmental challenges.
* Continually improve our environmental performance, and periodically issue progress reports.
