SPRING ISLAND, S.C. -- Spring Island in Okatie, SC has been named to Golf Connoisseur magazine’s Top 40 Golf Communities in America.
Golf Connoisseur assembled an expert panel of real estate journalists and industry insiders. The panelists rated the communities on a number of criteria to include: quality of golf, quality of homes and homesites, available amenities, location, and commitment to service.
In talking about Spring Island, the panel said, “With just one home to every seven acres, this Lowcountry community replete with moss-draped live oaks, is as low-impact as it gets. The nature-friendly property teems with fauna such as turkey, deer, and heron, while at the same time serving as an ecological research site for surrounding universities. Musical performances, painting programs, educational presentations are among the amenities, and Arnold Palmer’s Old Tabby Links golf course is a study in design perfection. The development’s passion for the great outdoors extends to its salt- and fresh-water fishing outlets, comprehensive equestrian facility, and hunt club, which takes to a nearby plantation during season to stalk quail by mule-drawn wagon.”
Golf Connoisseur is not the only group to notice Spring Island. Spring Island’s Old Tabby Links ranks #91 (of nearly 17,000) in Golfweek’s Top 100 Golf Courses and #27 in Golfweek’s Top Residential Golf Communities. Travel + Leisure Golf includes Spring Island as #23 on its list of Top Golf Communities.
