Pawleys Plantation reports on its participation in Patriot Golf Day

Pawleys Plantation, located in Pawleys Island, S.C. participated in a nationwide effort to raise funds for the U.S. military and their families. The event, called “Patriot Golf Day,” was held Sept. 1, 2007.

Pawleys Plantation asked golfers that day to add $1 each to their greens fees. Money raised will go to Wounded Warriors, Inc, which provides support to families of those who have become disabled, or lost their lives during military duty.

“Pawleys Plantation is proud to be a part of such a great event,” said Laura Rippy, general manager at Pawleys Plantation. “We are always looking for ways to show our support for the men and women serving our country. We couldn’t think of a better way to show our gratitude and respect than through a nationwide effort like this.”

Pawleys Plantation is one of over two thousand courses in the nation to participate.
Dan Rooney, a PGA Professional from Stillwater, Okla., spearheaded the program to raise funds through Wounded Warriors, Inc. Rooney is also in the process of establishing The Fallen Heroes Foundation, which will pay for the education of children who have lost a parent in Iraq or Afghanistan.
