Elwin and Mackey Miles of Conway, SC were named Overall Gross Champions of the 10th Annual Martin's PGA TOUR Superstore National Father & Son Team Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Miles team shot a 20 under par 196 to finish one stroke ahead of Patrick and Charles Wills of Woodbridge, VA.
“The winning is nice and it’s really exciting to win, but it’s more exciting to spend three days with the other fathers and sons who enjoy the game of golf,” said Elwin Miles, chief operating officer for DG Golf Management. This was Elwin and Mackey’s eighth year to play in the event.
Father and son in-laws Phil Cockman and Page Watts from North Myrtle Beach, SC were named Overall Net Champions. The Cockman and Watts team shot a 4 over 220 for a net 175 to beat the team of Robert Hare of Hopewell, VA and Robert Hare of Moseley, VA by a shot.
More than 800 teams and 1600 players from 45 states and eight countries competed in this 54-hole event at Crow Creek Golf Club, Heather Glen Golf Links, Indian Wells Golf Club, Wild Wing Plantation, Legends Resort, Myrtlewood Golf Club, Farmstead Golf Links, Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club, Barefoot Resort, Wachesaw Plantation East, Arrowhead Country Club, Tidewater Plantation, and Grande Dunes Golf Club.
This three-day family event has become the largest father-son golf event in the world. This national tournament brings together family members with a father and son type relationship, including grandfathers and grandsons, stepfathers and stepsons, and uncles and nephews.
