Champ Spikes reports winners on LPGA and at two PGA Events

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Ricoh Women’s British Open was an historical event for a number of reasons. First, the champion, who went wire to wire wearing CHAMP Stinger™ spikes, won her first ever major championship on the LPGA Tour. It was also the first ever women’s professional event played on the Old Course at St. Andrews. Overall 56 competitors chose the CHAMP brand to provide them with unparalleled traction, comfort and stability.

On the PGA Tour at the Reno Tahoe Open, the champion captured his third career tour win and guaranteed a spot in the PGA Championship, for the 10th year in a row. The winner wore CHAMP Stinger and finished five shots up to claim the championship.

Finally, at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational the story was similar to the LPGA but with a twist. The champion and number one ranked male golfer in the world on the PGA Tour chose CHAMP just like the number one ranked woman in the world. However, the champion’s spike preference in this instance was CHAMP’s traditional Steel Cermec®. The leader board in Akron, Ohio was crowded with dedicated CHAMP supporters, as an astounding15 out of the top 20 finishers wore the CHAMP brand to complete CHAMP’s three-peat of a weekend.

“Being part of tour history and a player’s personal history is fantastic. Having our spikes worn by the winner of the men’s and women’s Open Championship is great,” said Harris MacNeill, President of CHAMP. “The best golfers in the world are choosing our spikes on a regular basis. We are looking forward to this coming week at the PGA Championship and our chance at completing the Grand Slam for spikes for the second year in a row. That would be a truly exceptional feat.”
