MORRISTOWN, N.J. -- Groove Equipment Ltd. is pleased to announce the signing of former Australian Amateur Champion David Gleeson. Gleeson will be using the GEL Ruby model putter for the first time at the British Open Championship at Carnoustie on Thursday, July 19th.
“We are very excited to have a player like David Gleeson join our GEL team,” said Alec Pettigrew, Founder and CEO of Groove Equipment Ltd. “Professionals, like all players, rely heavily on their putting game and we believe GEL will give David a strong competitive advantage.”
Featuring the latest advancements in groove technology, GEL’s unique teeth-like horizontal grooves on the face of the putter are proven to get the ball rolling forward faster while reducing skid.
“The GEL Ruby has given me new-found confidence on the green and I look forward to using it at Carnoustie,” added Gleeson.
Gleeson’s successful amateur career featured victories at the Doug Sanders International Junior Championship in 1995, the 1996 Australian Amateur Championship, and the 1996 Eisenhower Trophy as a member of Team Australia. In 2002 Gleeson recorded his first professional Tour victory at the Volvo China Open at Shanghai Silport.
GEL introduced six innovative models at the 2007 PGA Show spanning decades of putter design with everything from traditional blade style putters to cutting-edge designs. Several models are available in ladies and left handed, and each GEL putter comes standard with a specially designed WINN grip.
