GolfTEC announces opening first of two Las Vegas-area centers

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Golf instructors have long relied on their own vision and simple video cams to determine where their students’ swings can be improved. Now, for Las Vegas golfers, the highest tech training is on the way.

Denver-based GolfTEC (www.GolfTEC.com), known for more than a decade as the nation’s leader in advanced technology golf instruction, with nearly one million lessons to date, is opening their 100th location in Las Vegas on June 27, 2007. The first of two Las Vegas-area centers, and the chain’s first premiere center, GolfTEC’s store is located at 8480 West Desert Inn Rd. # F-2.

Until recently, computer-assisted golf instruction was reserved for the PGA Touring Pros. But GolfTEC provides golfers of all skill levels the opportunity to improve their games through the use of digital video, impact analysis, biofeedback technology and motion-capture computers.

Las Vegas co-owner Ronald Memo was hooked with his first lesson. “A golf swing happens at over 100 miles an hour,” said Memo. “This instruction method equips our professional golf instructors with scientific data to see critical details in your swing --elements that the naked eye just can’t catch.”

During a lesson, GolfTEC students wear a small harness with sensors that measure the golfer’s key movements throughout the swing. A Certified Personal Coach scrutinizes that information and compares it to a database of 200 top PGA Tour players. The client gets instant feedback to achieve ideal swing parameters, and can review the lesson repeatedly with specific follow-up drills and notes from their personal computer through the GolfTEC website.

The GolfTEC advantage:

Digital Video Computer System records a swing at various angles and provides an instant swing analysis for immediate and interactive study and improvement.

Motion Analysis Computer System, similar to animated feature film production, is used with a series of motion sensors to measure 24 key swing components, like shoulder turn and hip rotation. The data is then compared against a database of more than 200 PGA Professional, many of whom are currently on the major PGA Tour circuit.

Professional Golf Instructors attend GolfTEC University, an intense course which builds upon PGA training, with 80 additional hours of hands-on instructional education.

Biofeedback Reinforcement measures and incorporates auditory signals of the golfer's swing against a set of ideal swing parameters.

Impact Analysis provides accurate course ball flight and the club-impact face angle.

WebLesson is a patented, web-based record of each student’s individual lesson which can later be accessed from a PC or laptop for review to practice the drills. The WebLesson includes the student’s before-and-after video of each lesson, the instructor’s comments and notes, plus prescription video practice drills that supports each individual lesson.

Conditioning GolfTEC has developed a conditioning program in conjunction with Mountain Land Physical Therapy. The revolutionary “In Position” approach improves overall flexibility, core strength and balance specific to the game of golf. The expert physical therapist can also conduct an analysis to determine any physical barriers or limitations to the students’ swings and offers a more holistic approach to conditioning drills for improvement.

Custom Club Fitting The GolfTEC coaches can recommend custom club fitting for each student at the appropriate juncture in lesson progression.

“Men, women and children love the GolfTEC system because it’s very easy to visualize and understand what needs to be changed or fixed,” said Memo. “Improvement time decreases dramatically, making the game more fun and enjoyable. Our first center and the ones we have planned throughout the Valley are located where people work so lessons can easily be worked into busy schedules.”
